Aloo Dim er Bhorta (Potato and Egg Bharta)

Aloo Dim Bhorta (Potato and Egg Bharta) is a delicious spiced mashed potato with eggs. It is the easiest and tastiest aloo makha (Bengali mashed potatoes) ever. Perfect side dish with hot steaming rice and Bengali masoor dal.

Ingredients

  • 2 large Potatoes washed and boiled
  • 2 Eggs free range hard boiled
  • 1 large Onions thinly sliced
  • 2 large Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1-2 Green chillies (optional)
  • 2 Dried red chillies
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 tbsp Mustard Oil

Instructions

  • Add the potatoes along with 1 tablespoon and salt in a large bowl and mash it well with fork until there are no lumps.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a skillet on medium heat. When hot temper it with dried red chillies and saute until they turn crispy and slightly blackened.
  • Next toss in the chopped garlic and sliced onions, green chillies (if using) and saute in the oil for 5-6 minutes stirring frequently. Saute until the onions turn golden brown. Take it off the heat.
  • Add the sauted onions, dried red chillies and the boiled eggs to the mashed potatoes. Crush and mash everything together with hands until no lumps are seen. Check the seasoning and salt if required.
  • Garnish with coriander and serve it hot with rice and dal or parathas.
