Tandoori Rori Recipe | How to make tandoori roti on tawa | Dhaa style Tandoori roti
Tandoori Roti is a popular Indian dhaba style flatbread that can be made at home on tawa or skillet. Ghee smeared hot tandoori roti along with a side is just sheer bliss.
1/2cupAll purpose flour / Maida(basically for the colour, you can skip if you wish to and replace it with whole wheat flour)
3tbspYogurt
1/2tspBaking Soda
1/2tspSalt
1 1/2tbspOil
Water to make a soft but firm dough
3-4tbspGhee /butterto brush on top of the rotis
Instructions
Making the dough
In a large mixing bowl add wheat flour, all purpose flour, all purpose flour, yogurt, salt and 1 tablespoon of oil.
Mix it well with your finger tips.
Make a well in the centre and gradually start adding little water at a time and keep kneading the dough. Make smooth and firm dough.
Cover it with the damp kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Make Tandoori Roti on Tawa/ Stovetop
After the resting time knead the dough again to make a smooth dough.
Next divide the dough into 10-12 equal portions and make balls. Then flatten each ball between your palm and make disc.
Roll them with rolling pin into a medium-size disc or roti shape.
Mean while heat the cast iron tawa/skillet on a medium-high heat. It should be nice and hot.
Pat a little water on one side of the roti and place the water patted side on the pan. Lower the heat now.
Let the roti cook for a minuteon medium low heat.
When you see bubbles on top surface, turn the tawa upside down on flames. Roti will be facing the flame directly.The roti will start puffing up completely.
Once the roti facing the flame is cooked, take off the pan from the flame.
Remove the cooked tandoori roti with a help of a tong and smear it with some ghee or butter.Follow the above steps to cook all the roti.
