Aloo Chechki | Potato curry with Nigella seeds | Sada Aloor torkari
Aloo Chechki or Sada Aloo Chorchori is a delicious, simple and quick Bengali style potato curry tempered with nigella seeds (kalo jeera) and green chilies. A popular Bengali breakfast is best served with gorom phulko luchi (fried puffed bread).
- 4 medium Potatoes Washed, peeled and sliced into thin strips
- 3-4 green chilies slit
- 1/2 cup Green peas (optional)
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Nigella seeds
- Salt as per taste
- 1-2 tbsp Oil
- 1 1/2 cup water
- chopped coriander leaves
Heat oil in a pan on medium heat, add nigella seeds and slit green chilies and fry for few seconds.
Then toss in the potato strips and fry for 2-3 minutes.
Add the green peas, turmeric powder and salt and mix everything well. Sauté everything for few minutes.
Then add one and half cup of water and bring it to a boil. Then lower the heat and simmer until the potatoes are cooked through.
Finally add chopped coriander leaves.
Serve it hot with luchi or paratha.
