Paneer Fulkopi diye bhaja Moong Dal | How to make Shobji diye muger dal

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Moong dal
  • 1/2 cup Paneer cut into small 2 cm pieces
  • 1/2 cup Cauliflower small florets Small florets
  • 1/4 cup Peas
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1-2 Dried red Chilli
  • 1/4 tsp Hing
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Ginger finely grated
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp Ghee/oil for tempering
  • 1 tsp ghee/oil for sautéing cauliflower

Instructions

  • Heat a pressure cooker on medium to low heat. Add the moong dal and dry roast it until golden brown or releases a nutty aroma.
  • Add it to the pressure cooker along with 3 cups of water along with salt and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles or until the dal is 95 percent cooked.
  • Meanwhile heat a teaspoon of oil/ghee and and fry the cauliflower florets until golden brown. Remove from the heat and keep aside.
  • Now add the fried cauliflower, paneer, green peas, turmeric powder and sugar and mix everything well. Add water to adjust the consistency as per your liking and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until the cauliflower florets are cooked through.
  • Now for the tempering, heat ghee/oil in a small pan then temper the oil with bay leaf, red dried chilli, cumin seeds, hing and grated ginger. Add it to the dal and give it a boil.

  • Sprinkle with coriander and serve it hot with rice and begun bhaja.
