About Me
About me : Indian food blogger

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my humble abode. Now a little something About Me.

I am Arpita, the recipe developer and food photographer of this food blog.

Like every Bengali, I am very passionate about eating and cooking and not to forget talking. Food and blogging has always fascinated me therefore I decided to take the plunge! A former IT professional turned into a food blogger.

I have a lot to share with all you lovely people out there and hope you will all enjoy my recipes and I would succeed in my endeavour of tantalising your taste buds!

Oh btw you must be wondering what BONG stands for in the blogging world. Well you will know that in a short while.

Born in a Bengali family (yup!! Bengali=BONG) and growing up in Mumbai, the most culturally-diverse city, I had a fair share of knowing multicultural food. The kitchen was always the hub of activity, where everyone gathered to talk, eat and share life while amazing food was being created. I am so happy to have you here in my virtual kitchen and hope you will return again and again.

Food and art are an integral part of my life.

Knowingly or unknowingly I have always been strongly attracted to food and cooking. I loved (I still do) and gorged on the lip smacking food my Ma cooked. Have always seen her cook with such passion and speed. She is a brilliant cook and is one of my greatest inspiration. Whenever I used to get time I helped my Ma in the kitchen doing small things. I started experimenting my culinary skills on my parents and some of my close friends who were my testers; my little Guinea pigs.

I am a foodie and my love of food took on a new dimension about few years ago, when another foodie entered my life my hubby. Moved from Mumbai to London after marriage. Both of us love to travel and try different cuisines be it regional or international. We had our fair share of excellent and non edible food experiences. My hubby’s love of food acted as a catalyst for my love for food and culinary experiments. As its said the key to a man’s heart is through his stomach and I can tell you; that’s certainly the case 🙂

I am not entirely self-taught when it comes to the kitchen and I am still learning as I go through cookbooks, magazines, television shows, the Internet, and a tremendous amount of trial and error. I stopped fearing the unknown and gladly accepted to make mistakes in the process of uncovering secret flavours, new techniques, or just a new perspective on an old ingredient.

Another thing about me

I am passionate about baking. I vividly remember the first time I baked a cake, oh what a feeling it was.. totally ecstatic!!! That feeling really urged me to a venture to take up baking seriously and now I run a small home bakery. My love for baking turned me from an IT engineer to a baker! So you can imagine how madly in love with baking I am!

My goal is to spread the aromas and flavours of my kitchen to yours, spread the smiles that good food bring to us and our loved one. I hope with this food blog I could persuade you to run into your kitchen and stir & whip up what you have seen here, and the confidence to know that you can do it!

Bon Appetit!!!

Sorry for this but I am really scratching my head. What does bong mean in the blogging sense? I only have one sense of the word bong if you get my drift. Blog looks very delicious btw.
